Summary:This dissertation contains two studies. The first study investigates the effect of investments in corporate social responsibility on worker performance at the intensive and extensive margins. A natural field experiment is used to generate a rich data set on worker behavior. Data generated by the experiment are used to estimate a structural principal-agent model. The results are generally positive in the sense that CSR appear to be valid way of inducing higher effort from workers. The second study analyzes the impact of incentives for both solicitors and donors in a natural field experiment designed around a charitable fundraising drive for a public good. Both solicitor and donor side incentive appear to increase mean donations. However, donor-side incentives are more efficient in bringing in money to the public good.
