Summary:These documents detail the case of George Anastaplo who was denied admission to the Illinois Bar by the Committee on Character and Fitness of the Illinois Bar Association in 1951 as a result of his responses to questions dealing with oaths, right of revolution, loyalty, and, above all, whether or not he was a communist. They cover the case from his examination by the Committee to his failed appeals to overturn the Committee's decision in both the Illinois and U.S. Supreme Courts.
